Last night as I trawled the supermarket shelves for ready to eat products, the muzak in the aisle was "Hey you" by Pink Floyd. I wondered what had gone wrong- what happened to those young days when Floyd was an emblem of intellectual rebelliousness? -they were playing a radio station over their speakers. I was saved.
Today I did my negotiation assessment- the teacher seemed to be impressed. She mused as to whether I improved tremendously over one week or whether I am just naturally more adept at negotiating with people rather than interviewing them. The only place I fell slightly short was in not getting enough information out of the opposing lawyer. That is certainly a problem- not being a good enough listener. In any case, having returned home triumphant I set about watching "The Lord of War", a black comedy on the international arms trade starring Nicholas Cage. An excellent film. A friend recommended it telling me about how much I would like it. It's gruesome, grotesque, moving and yet funny. It is very thought-provoking and the soundtrack is fantastic. Definitely a movie worth watching.

Definitely a movie worth watching. Thanks for the tip (as the hooker said to the leper). Setting out the market realities of war mongering is a hard task for all but documentary, yet Lord of War does it with aplomb.
